Kehei

We think Keawakapu is the best beach, but for a change you might want to go a little north to Kamaole 1, 2, or 3. The beaches of North Kihei aren't as nice, in our opinion, due to waste discharge, smelly seaweed and coral rubble in contrast the smooth sand further south. They are still nice beaches to walk on, and the windy conditions make for good windsurfing. More on Maui beaches.

You can learn to surf at Kalama Beach Park (just north of Kamaole 1). More surf lessons/kayak etc.  ...yet more

Across the street from Kalama Beach Park is Kihei Kalama Village with restaurants and open air shops.
